A lab is a vital part of the biodiesel facility. There are 15 tests that must be done to meet the ASTM D 6751 standard for B100. Our chemist will assist in setting up your plant lab and will train your technician to perform the analyses.

ASTM Definitions

  • Biodiesel – a fuel comprised of mono-alkyl esters of long chain fatty acids derived from vegetable oils or animal fats, designated B100.
  • Biodiesel blend – a blend of biodiesel fuel with petroleum-based diesel fuel designated Bxx, where xx is the volume percent of biodiesel.


Key Physical Properties of B100 Biodiesel

  • Contains less than 15 ppm sulfur
  • No aromatics
  • High Cetane (over 50)
  • High lubricity (over 6000 grams BOCLE)
  • Biodegradable
  • Non-toxic
  • High flash point (over 260 F)
  • Comparable BTU value (8% less than #2)
